Raccoon Island

Once called “Sun Island,” this small island is composed of gravel beaches and rocky slopes.

Views of Boston Light, Downtown Boston, Hull, and the surrounding islands can be seen from Raccoon Island, which is situated close to Houghs Neck in Quincy. This location has remained relatively undisturbed over the years, having been used as a sheep grazing site in the 1600s, a recreational camping spot for parties in the 1880s, and the residence of a summer camp for a religious organization in the 1930s.
