PARK UPDATE: Temporary Ferry Service Changes to Spectacle & Georges Islands — July 11–15

Planning a visit to Spectacle or Georges Island this week? Please read this important update before you head to the dock.

As Sail Boston 2026 and the fleet of Tall Ships bring extraordinary spectacle to Boston Harbor, visitors should be aware of temporary changes to ferry service affecting Spectacle Island and Georges Island from the Boston (Long Wharf North) ferry gateway. Please plan your trip accordingly.

Saturday, July 11 & Sunday, July 12

No Ferry Service from Long Wharf North to Spectacle or Georges Island
There will be no ferry service from Boston (Long Wharf North) to Spectacle Island or Georges Island on Saturday, July 11 or Sunday, July 12. This is to accommodate the Tall Ships Parade of Sail and related maritime and security activities in the harbor.

Visitors who have tickets to the special “Tall Ships Parade of Sail Viewing from Spectacle” event on July 11 should note that ferry service for that event will depart from Hingham, not Long Wharf North. Please also note that tickets for this event are sold out.

Hingham to Peddocks will operate on an amended schedule with two round trips on Saturday, July 11. 

  • 11:00 a.m. departure from Hingham | 11:30 a.m. departure from Peddocks
  •  4:00 p.m. departure from Hingham | 4:30 p.m. departure from Peddocks
  • Service resumes to regular summer schedule on Sunday, July 12.

Hingham to Georges Island service is unavailable on Saturday, July 11, but resumes on Sunday, July 12.

Monday, July 13 – Wednesday, July 15

Reduced Service from Long Wharf North to Spectacle Island; No Service to Georges
Ferry service from Boston (Long Wharf North) to Spectacle Island resumes on a reduced schedule beginning Monday, July 13, with departures at 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM only. Please plan ahead and arrive early, as space on these departures may be limited.

There will be no ferry service from Long Wharf North to Georges Island through Wednesday, July 15. Georges Island and Peddocks Island remain accessible from Hingham during this time.

Thursday, July 16

Full Regular Service Resumes
Regular summer season ferry service to all islands from all ferry gateways resumes on Thursday, July 16. We look forward to welcoming you back to the harbor!
