Rainsford Island Exploration
IMPORTANT CANCELLATION NOTICE: In consultation with our charter boat captain, we are cancelling both Rainsford Island trips on Saturday, May 7th due to a National Weather Service Advisory of gusts up to 35 knots and seas 4 to 6 feet expected from 6:00AM Saturday to 8:00AM Monday. A full refund will be issued through Brown Paper Tickets within seven-ten days. The Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands appreciate your understanding and look forward to future tours.
CANCELLED DUE TO WIND ADVISORY
Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands sponsor the boat trip to Rainsford Island aboard the beach landing vessel Knotts Island. The trip departs from the Houghs Neck Maritime Center, 137 Bayview Avenue, Quincy, MA at 11:00 returning to the dock at 3:00.
Rainsford Island once known as Hospital Island has had centuries of varied uses. Photo historian Elizabeth Carella will do a brief program upon arrival. You can explore the Island, its beaches and coves.
Pack a picnic and bring water. There is no food sold on the boat or the Island. Park policy is no pets and no alcohol.
The Island does not have a dock. The vessel Knotts Island is not equipped for mobility assisted devices. Boat capacity is limited- advance tickets are encouraged.
