Peddocks Island Cleanup
Help DCR and the Center for Coastal Studies Marine Debris & Plastics Program clean up Peddocks Island!
Volunteers will gather in the Hingham Shipyard (30 Shipyard Drive, Hingham, MA) at 9:00 AM. Parking costs $3.00. Volunteers will board DCR’s 1969 open landing craft ‘Goliath’ and be transported to Peddocks Island where they’ll join groups staying on the island to help with the clean up. Volunteers will return to Hingham that same day by 5:00pm.
Meet at Hingham Shipyard, 30 Shipyard Drive, Hingham, MA 02043 at 9:00 AM sharp.
What to know before you go:
- Volunteers will be required to demonstrate ability to work on and circumnavigate rocky island shorelines.
- Volunteers are responsible for bringing their own water and food.
- Swimming is prohibited while on the vessel or on the islands.
- Bathrooms will be located on Island for volunteer use.
- Volunteers must register at least 24 hours before the date of the event, and must fill out a volunteer release form and photo release form before boarding the vessel.
- Volunteers will receive additional important information upon registering, so sign up early!
- Please sign and bring a Volunteer Release form with you in order to board the boat. If you have any questions, please email Matt Perry at matthew.s.perry1@mass.gov. The Volunteer Release form will be available after you register.
