Open Expedition at Spectacle Island
This summer, in partnership with the Reciprocity Collaborative and National Parks of Boston, Reciprocity artists Çaca Yvaire, Kristin Barendregt-Ludwig and Jessi Stegall have been conducting site-specific research in an attempt to deepen their relationship to the Islands of Boston Harbor.
Through memory-work, art-making, and public engagement, they have traced the cultural rhythms of Island Life while documenting signs of sentience along the way.
Reciprocity Collaborative invites you to explore with us. Investigate your relationship to natural places at our next PROJECT SITE event, an Open Expedition at Spectacle Island.
Featuring sculpture and sound installations, get outfitted for a self-guided walk with guideposts along the way to explore…
What needs remembering here?
Who benefits from remembering?
What might existing or temporary structures encourage us to remember?
Encounter Spectacle island through art-making, memories, and reflection including the opening of social-engagement structures built in collaboration with Ruinkraft. These structures, built and composed of biomaterials, will serve as gates to the Imaginal World of Archipelago – our cultural understanding of these Harbor Islands.
Be prepared for a day of discovery in the beauty of the harbor. Please join us for this day of creative inquiry!
Wondering how to get there? Take the 9am or 10:30am ferry from Long Wharf!
