New Year’s Day Boat Trip to Cathleen Stone Island in Boston Harbor
The Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands is sponsoring the annual boat trip to visit Cathleen Stone Island, formerly known as Thompson Island, with its meadows, forests, beaches and 40 acre salt marsh.
A Friends tradition since 1980, it’s the best way to start the New Year!
Pack a picnic! No food is sold on the boat or the island. There will be a building open for warmup space. Park policy is no pets and no alcohol.
Travel on MV Freedom where two of the three decks are heated. Boarding begins at 11:30 a.m. The trip will depart at 12:00 p.m. sharp and return to the dock at 4:00 p.m.
Departs from Mass Bay Lines, Rowes Wharf, Boston, which is behind the Boston Harbor Hotel. Check-in with the FBHI volunteers in the ferry terminal. The trip goes rain or shine.
