Lot Lab: Processional for Mark, Phillis, and Phebe
Happy Juneteenth! Join a processional celebrating the lives and memories of our enslaved ancestors, led by featured Lot Lab artist Ifé Franklin.
Ifé Franklin will lead a celebratory processional around Lot Lab in remembrance of Mark, Phillis, and Phebe, three Black individuals who were enslaved in Charlestown who gave their lives in pursuit of freedom. Her sculptural work featured at Lot Lab, titled The Resurrection of Mark, Phillis, and Phebe, is a structure that provides shelter, honor, and opportunities for spiritual rebirth in remembrance of the formerly enslaved.
The processional will be followed by a meditation practice and sound bath led by yoga and meditation instructor Marlene Boyette. Come together, enjoy light refreshments, and uplift Mark, Phillis, Phebe, and all of the others who came before us!
