Bumpkin Island

A small, picturesque destination with a diverse history, this quaint little island is excellent for camping.

With flowers that line its trails and beautiful slate and shell beaches, Bumpkin Island is the ideal place to relax in nature. This quiet island was once home to Native Americans and later hosted fish-drying and smelting operations before a children’s hospital was founded on it by Boston philanthropist, Albert Burrage.

Bumpkin Island is currently closed due to ongoing facility maintenance.

Know Before You Go

Bring your own food and water – there is no food service or water source on the island. Bring bug spray and check for ticks, which are commonly found in wooded areas and tall grass. Remember to carry out all trash.
