Bumpkin Island
A small, picturesque destination with a diverse history, this quaint little island is excellent for camping.
Please be advised that temporary ferry service changes will go into effect beginning July 11 through July 15 for Sail Boston 2026 and Tall Ship activities in Boston Harbor. Click here for more information and to review ferry service changes to plan your visit.
With flowers that line its trails and beautiful slate and shell beaches, Bumpkin Island is the ideal place to relax in nature. This quiet island was once home to Native Americans and later hosted fish-drying and smelting operations before a children’s hospital was founded on it by Boston philanthropist, Albert Burrage.
Bumpkin Island is currently closed due to ongoing facility maintenance.
