The Whales’ Moon
It’s summer: a lazy, hazy time. So, here’s a fanciful poem for summer.
By: Sea Opal
the whales’ moon
sank in the blue Artesia waters
the gold stars sang arias
sunlight bubbled and danced
butterflies unfolded from cocoons
Island of mermaids floated
in the sunflower realm
off the dolphin keys
In my island cabana
winds from the rings of fires
drifted through palm trees
at midnight in the quiet
grey humpbacks and mermaids
spread pearls and seashells
and sang the whales song
Days of ivory clouds
a merchandise of trade winds
brought sailboats off the coast
the silver mist appeared
I in my island home
rescued the fallen stars
kept the whales’ secrets here
