By celebrating special milestones, Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park continues to honor its legacy of learning, discovery, and partnership!
2021 marked the beginning of a special anniversary year at the Boston Harbor Islands: one that celebrated 50 years since the Boston Harbor Islands entered the State Park system and 25 years since the establishment of the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park – its national significance signed into law as part of the National Parks and Public Lands Management Act of 1996. Following this anniversary year, the Boston Harbor Islands Partnership published Looking Toward the Future, which reflects on the past, present, and future of the park.
The Boston Harbor Islands has relied on the power of partnership to create exceptional park spaces, preserve our most cherished resources, and inspire unforgettable experiences. Eleven different agencies and organizations make up the Boston Harbor Islands Partnership, which collectively owns and operates this unique urban park.
The Boston Harbor Islands Partnership welcomes everyone to visit the park, learn about the islands’ rich history and heritage, and participate in unique programming.
