Boston Harbor Islands as a Living Laboratory for Coastal Resilience

How does climate change affect the Massachusetts coastline, and what can scientists and community members do to protect it from extreme weather?

Learn from Marc Albert of the National Parks of Boston, and Sonja Plesset of the James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Foundation, about the unique geology and increasing vulnerability of the Boston Harbor Islands to coastal storms, and initial plans to establish a living laboratory on the islands. The laboratory is envisioned as a major new research and recreation destination within the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park – engaging researchers, students and the public in understanding coastal change, and testing innovative ways to protect the Massachusetts coastline.

Free with Museum Admission; Free for EBT and WIC cardholders through the Card to Culture program. Free to members of Old South Meeting House, FBHI, and UMass Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) with identification.
