Thompson Island is all about making a difference, every day, whether it's building leadership and challenging limits, teaching environmental stewardship, or hosting a wedding with proceeds that support youth programming. Here you'll find Thompson Island Outward Bound, a non-profit educational organization that puts people in fun, challenging situations to help develop teamwork, compassion, and confidence.
School and Community Youth Groups programs include a variety of leadership, environmental education and summer learning programs. Serves students from the 5th grade and up.
Summer Expeditions offers adventure-based courses, for ages 12 to 17, that include sailing, kayaking, climbing, and exploration of the Boston Harbor Islands National Park Area and Massachusetts Bay.
Outward Bound Professional delivers custom design experiential-based team and leadership development programs that focus on improving the effectiveness of individuals, groups and organizations. Serves adults and graduate students.
The Signature Events and Conference Center offers catered clambakes, company outings, parties, weddings, and meetings.
Individuals may visit Thompson Island on summer weekends. Explore on your own, take a tour into the salt marshes or tour with a guide to learn about history of the island. Boats leave from the EDIC Pier in South Boston (cash fare only).
This island of Boston Harbor Islands national park area is managed by Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center.
