It takes partnership to manage and protect a diverse environment like the Boston Harbor Islands. The Boston Harbor Islands Partnership coordinates management of the island park, with representatives from a range of government and nonprofit agencies. The Boston Harbor Islands Advisory Council advises the Partnership on ongoing park operations. And we also collaborate with many other government offices, tribes, not-for-profit organizations, colleges and universities, and businesses. The result? We’re all working together to achieve our mission:
Unlike other national parks, federal, state, municipal, and nonprofit agencies cooperate to administer the islands. One half of the park islands are the responsibility of Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR), the Massachusetts state park agency.
This Official Boston Harbor Islands Trip Planner is a cooperative effort of the National Park Service and Boston Harbor Island Alliance on behalf of the Partnership.
