DCR Permits

Permits may be required for your group if you’re going to Georges, Lovells, Peddocks, Bumpkin, Grape, or Spectacle Islands. These islands are managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation—DCR.

Groups of 25 or More and Campers
Reservations and permits are required for groups of 25 or more that visit Georges, Lovells, Peddocks, Bumpkin, Grape, or Spectacle Islands. Groups requesting a permit for an unreserved group picnic or group camping site, and who do not require special support services, may request a Recreational Use Permit from the Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR). Please apply for a permit at least 7 days before the date of travel. Individual campsite reservations are also required.

Private Events
Any group requesting a private event site, after-hours use of non-camping facilities, or any activity requiring oversight and coordination by island-based staff should contact Boston Harbor Island Alliance for information on site availability, policies and permits.
