Dance, music, visual arts, writing, and social media can deliver the meaning of parks as effectively as park rangers. Arts are not a new phenomenon at Boston Harbor Islands. Several formal art projects are described in the links to the left.

In addition to the specific projects, public programming in the park has embraced the arts through on-going performance, demonstrations, and hands-on activities. These include the Plays in the Park series, Berklee College music series, concerts by Landmarks and Dorchester Symphony orchestras, and “en plain air” painting and photography field trips.
